Fluor-XR Extreme Release Coating handles recycle stickies

Elkton, MD - Fluoron, Inc. says its Fluor-XR Extreme Release Coating is a highly differentiated product that combines the wear resistance of a tungsten carbide surface with the superior release properties of Fluoron’s proprietary extreme release coating technology.

The Fluor-XR installation consists of a three-step process. First, the roll surface is prepared using vacuum grit blasting equipment to provide a clean working surface. An 80-micron layer of tungsten carbide is then applied using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) flame spray equipment. Finally, Fluoron’s proprietary Extreme Release coating is applied to produce a finished high-release surface.

Because of the excellent wear resistance coupled with extreme release properties, Fluor-XR release coating is ideal for felt rolls, paper carrying rolls or dryer cans in recycled paper applications that have trouble with build-up or stickies.

Fluoron provides all three steps of the application process for rolls of any diameter or length.

Unlike traditional roll covers or coatings, Fluor-XR technology embeds the release coating within a protective matrix of tungsten carbide which enables superior release even under the most aggressive services such as doctored dryer cylinders. In addition to having release properties superior to traditional coatings, Fluoron’s proprietary Extreme Release top coating technology cures at ambient temperatures, which shortens curing duration and allows for a wider range of applications.

Test results show that Fluor-XR provides over 40 times better release than the best TEFLON® sleeves in adhesive sticky types of applications, even after extensive wear testing.

Fluoron offers a free sample coupon of its Fluor-XR technology so that it can be tested in the mill.
